I had a fun time with the guide. He made the experience enjoyable. I saw a lot of birds in a short of time. He came to the cruise spot area. was very well adjustable to the timing of the cruise. If I go can go back, I will book him again. Thank you for making it a wonderful time.

Amazing experience, with an awesome and friendly guide!
This tour was amazing! I had never been birdwatching before, but José made the experience so special. Our tour was just us (my partner and I), and we got to go all around Mazatlan spotting birds from multiple different environments. We ventured out to the countryside, then went to the water, and even downtown. The car was air conditioned and very comfortable, and José provided everything we needed: snacks, water, and very good binoculars. He also has a telescope as well for the very far birds. Super knowledgeable about birding, speaks good English, and was very accepting of our limited Spanish. This wasn’t just a birding tour, it was a whole city tour. There was a little bit of walking, but nothing that was difficult. If you have any interest in birds, wildlife, or flora, definitely book this, you won’t be disappointed.

Jose is a very knowledgeable tour guide and we highly recommend his services. You will not be disappointed. Excellent service from start to finish. Would recommend that interested parties book in advance as he is quite busy (for all the right reasons).

This was amazing and José was very kind and knowledgeable. As novice birdwatchers we didn’t know what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised by the experience. We got to tour all of Mazatlán while learning about the local and migrant birds and some of the culture. I would recommend this for anyone who likes to explore and only has a day in Mazatlán as it is a very fulfilling experience.

This was one of the highlights of our stop. Jose picked us up from our cruise ship and after a short drive had us in a great location to photograph many of the local species. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend Jose’s services to anyone looking for an amazing guide!

Unexpected fun and attention to detail.. 

This was such a special experience. Confirmation of booking and great communication leading up to the day of the expedition. We were picked up on time in a very comfortable vehicle with Jose as our guide. Jose is extremely knowledgeable, took us to three different sights, and we got to see a lot of birds on the way, including a hummingbird nest that I have NEVER seen before. During the trip, using eBird and Merlin, Jose kept a running tab of all the birds and locations we went to, and these were promptly emailed to us after the trip. Inside the vehicle, he had loaner binoculars, treats, and beverages to refresh, and we even got to stop by a small local pop-up bakery spot with the most delicious breads. Unfortunately, they were out of the cheese bread, so that just gives us more reason to do the trip again the next time we are in Sinaloa.. And we WILL.

This excursion easily ranks up in the top 5 excursions we have done in Mazatlan in our 10 years of visiting there..

We had a fantastic full-day trip with Jose and Gisela. We saw 99 species, including several lifers. They’re both extremely experienced birders and trip leaders, and they made sure we found and saw as many birds as possible. Gisela has the most incredible birding eyes and ears my husband and I have ever experienced — we’re sure we saw at least 30% more birds because of her. Jose is also an excellent leader. They also completed ebird checklists for every location we visited and send us a trip list.

They know all the best birding spots around Mazatlán, and we enjoyed a delicious lunch at a traditional restaurant overlooking the mangroves. Highly recommended for birders of any level.

I recently had the pleasure of joining José Ramón & Gisela from Bird Watching Mazatlán for a solo full-day birding tour in the outskirts of Mazatlán. I've been on numerous birding tours over the past few years and this one ranked as one of the most enjoyable and most surprising. José Ramón & Gisela are wonderful guides. They're professional, friendly, fun, and absolutely exceptional at spotting & identifying birds.

My tour lasted almost 12 hours and we observed a whopping 112 species across the various locations we stopped! I was completely surprised to add as many new birds to my Life List considering I've seen so many of the locals during my recent travels through Latin America. That just goes to show how talented these 2 are at their trade.

The whole day was comfortable traveling around the area in their van (complete with plenty of snacks and drinks!). Lunch was included at a nice, local restaurant. They made me feel welcome immediately and I never felt rushed or like we were staying anywhere too long, so the pacing was excellent. The variety of locations was also nice (lake, lagoons, mangrove beach, etc.). My top highlights of the tour included: spotting my target species (Rufous-bellied Chachalaca & Black-throated Magpie-Jay), seeing baby Broad-billed Hummingbirds in a nest (expertly spotted by Gisela), and randomly seeing a bobcat run across the road in front of the car! One of our last stops even led to me getting to see one of my Bucket List birds, the blue-footed booby (very far away on the rocks, but visible through their spotting scope).

Amazing trip with Juan Ramos. Saw so many birds. He even ended up rescuing a hawk that was caught up in a bramble bush. He was able to free her and she flew off. A memory I will never forget.

First of all, Jose Ramon and Giselle picked me up at my condo. We didn’t have to go far to start seeing many birds. I could tell that birding is their passion, and they had a lot of experience. They are both very educated and experienced and know MZT very well. I felt very safe with them, understood and they shared so much of their knowledge and experience with me. I highly recommend this tour! The binoculars they provided were excellent! They had a spotting scope that allowed me to see the birds up close. We saw 82 birds!!!!Bring your camera, too.

Jose`Ramon and Stella, his wife, are outstanding bird guides. From a lake to a river, to the ocean, they showed us so many wonderful species native to Mazatlan! Knowledgeable, bi-lingual and sincere, I'd give Jose` and Stella a 10/10 rating. Choose them if you're a bird-lover!!!!

We are a birder and a non-birder and we both had a great morning viewing birds in and around Mazatlán. A quarry, an estuary, and a park all provided a great variety of birds (40-50 in all). Shorebirds, ducks, storks, frigate birds, warblers, and much more. Our guide was friendly and very knowledgeable about the birds, and was able to point out so many around us. He also included general information about the places we visited. It was definitely the best day of our week-long stay in Mazatlán.

I purchased this experience for my 22-year-old son as part of a birthday gift. We were on a cruise and stopped in Mazatlan for a day. This was the highlight of my son‘s vacation. And he frequently references all of the birds and other animals that he saw. The hosts were amazing and it was a great experience all around.

We had a wonderful day of bird watching! We’re first time bird watchers curious about the birds and wildlife in the area. Not only was the tour amazingly informative but we saw parts of Mazatlan that we would have never seen otherwise. Jose Ramon was a fabulous guide and his enthusiasm and expertise shone through as he toured us around the beautiful wetlands of Mazatlan. We booked a half day excursion with Bird Watching Mazatlán and had a great time. Jose has a great eye and helped us spot 61 different species!!

Jose' Ramon took us to a couple of off the road places and showed us many birds! The first was a purplish backed jay right outside our condo! I saw that bird more times while waiting for the bus. We ended our journey at an ancient church where a bat falcon pair were nesting:) It was a memorable day and lots of fun!

We enjoyed a wetland (lake) and a dry area in the hills and a small stream with numerous shore birds. Excellent day and Ramon was quite knowledgable.

Amazing Bird Trip! You should book it! I went out yesterday with José Ramon to bird watch. First of all, he is very knowledgeable and experienced. He knows what he’s seeing and is great at spotting birds. He picked me up at the hotel and delivered me back at the end. He had water and snacks and best of all binoculars for me to use. We saw 76 birds — 62 were lifers for me! What a great trip. I would book again without hesitation!

Unique and memorable experience! A highlight of our trip to Mazatlán! We were a group of three beginners, and Jose’s enthusiasm and knowledge were such an inspiration. Highly recommend for beginners and advanced birders alike. We saw over 70 species on our tour, including 4 kinds of heron and a pair of painted buntings. I hope Jose can bring his tours to the Mazatlan resorts. I think they would be a big hit with tourists visiting Mazatlan.

Birding. A new hobby Thanks to our guide. Jose was wonderful. It was our first birding experience and his enthusiasm and knowledge made it so much fun. He was very aware of our needs as older people and tried to make it a wonderful experience. We will do it again

Amazing tour! What a wonderful experience! I went with a friend and we were both so impressed with the sheer amount of birds we saw, almost all of which were completely new to us. Our guide, Jose, picked us up and drove us an hour and a half or so out into the Sierra Madre to the Tufted Jay Preserve. The area is stunning and we pulled over for photos of the mountains several times. Jose was extremely knowledgeable and thoughtful on the whole trip. He was an excellent guide and shared the professional photos he took of the birds we saw with us. I’m so glad we decided to do this tour. The hiking was moderate, through pine forest on logging roads for the most part, and at a high altitude, so plan accordingly for your trip. Definitely book with them!

Fantastic bird watching morning. 82 species!! Jose Ramon's knowledge, and the birding locations he took me too were excellent. We saw 82 different species is the approximately 4 hours we were out together. That was so exciting for me! He was right on time for the pickup. His car was comfortable and spotlessly clean. He'd brought extra drinks and snacks. And he was very considerate of mobility, and a bathroom break. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend!
