Environmental Education Program
At Bird Watching Mazatlán, our environmental education program is dedicated to raising awareness and promoting conservation through birding. We believe that connecting people with nature is key to fostering a deeper understanding of the natural world and encouraging long-term conservation efforts.
Birding Outings
We organize birding outings open to the public, inviting participants to immerse themselves in the natural world while enjoying the beauty of birds in their natural habitats. These outings also serve as a platform to promote citizen science, encouraging the community to contribute to bird monitoring and conservation efforts.
Workshops and Courses
We offer workshops and courses focused on birding, aiming to spark interest in this rewarding activity. Our programs are primarily designed for high school and university students, though they are also open to the general public. These sessions provide valuable insights into bird identification, behavior, and the importance of protecting their ecosystems.
We were also fortunate to develop a birding contemplation workshop designed specifically for individuals with various disabilities, including blindness, Down syndrome, Asperger's, and more. Through a range of sensory activities, participants were able to connect with the incredible world of birds, experiencing their presence in unique ways while gaining a deeper understanding of their importance in the ecosystem.
This workshop allowed us to create an inclusive environment where everyone could appreciate nature’s beauty and learn about the vital role birds play in maintaining ecological balance. We have had the opportunity to offer this birdwatching contemplation workshop on two occasions to different groups.
Talks and Presentations
We have been invited to speak at various events about the work we do, with a particular focus on bird tourism. Our talks have been delivered to students of tourism, biology, and related fields at universities across the state. In addition, we’ve participated in other events where we share our experiences and the importance of conservation work in the region.
Bird Festivals
We have also played a key role in organizing Bird Festivals in both Culiacán and Mazatlán. These events are essential for raising awareness about bird conservation and biodiversity. They are primarily aimed at students of all educational levels and feature a variety of institutions and organizations that are actively working to protect bird species. These festivals offer a platform for them to showcase their initiatives and engage the community in conservation efforts.
All of our activities are designed for people of all ages, with the goal of creating a positive impact on the community and fostering a deeper understanding of environmental stewardship through bird conservation.
